Pityopsis graminifolia var aequifolia, a perennial wildflower that grows in clumps. The small yellow blooms grow in clusters at the top of each plant. It flowers in fall. This variety is found in scrub and sandhill habitats and requires very dry, well-drained soil in full to mostly full sun. This variety tends to grow in a clump up to 18" tall and 24" wide. This is an ideal wildflower for those impossibly hot dry locations. It works well mixed with other wildflowers. The seeds are a great source of food for buntings, sparrows, and cardinals.
