Rouge Plant, Rivina humilis, is a sub-shrub with papery, dull green leaves and it produces small clusters of tiny pink flowers, spring through summer. Simultaneous to the flowers, it produces numerous clusters of tiny intense red fruit. They are a choice food for many kinds of birds. This is a charming small shrub-like plant with subtle color by way of the small, but numerous blooms and fruit. It is a great plant in the landscape throughout most of Florida for shady to partial sun locations. It is a good companion for native coffee plants, Marlberries, Beautyberry, etc. Rouge Plant typically grows 2 to 3 feet tall with a small spread.
