Pignut Hickory
Product Details
Pignut Hickory, Carya glabra, is a stately and large deciduous, coarse-textured tree, growing to 75-100 feet, with picturesque branches, and a large spreading crown with thick shelled nuts. It is an important timber source, its wood is made into tool handles and skis. Hickory nuts provide food source for wildlife. The foliage turns golden yellow in the late fall before winter leaf drop. This is a large tree and should be planted in well drained spaces with plenty of room to accommodate the mature size of the tree and the nuts that will drop during the fall.
You can see the Pignut Hickory in our Bonner Park tour!
