Short-lived perennial evergreen wildflower that reaches 3' tall by 1' wide. Bright, white showy flowers. Plant in full sun to part shade and moist to average soil. Once used as a food, it was very popular as a vegetable in the seventeenth century. The younger leaves are said to be a pleasant leaf vegetable when cooked like spinach or in soup. It is a larval host for Painted Lady butterfly.
