Beach Elder, Iva imbricata, Is a succulent dune plant with distinctive rubbery stems and leaves. It prefers deep drained conditions but will tolerate frequent watering in well drained soil. Being a dune plant, it does need full to nearly full sun. It is a great plant for high salt and wind tolerance in coastal landscapes. It is noticeable on beaches because of their bright green coloring and the mounding shape of the plant. It will grow from a couple of feet tall to 3 feet.
