Beach Creeper
Beach Creeper also known as Golden Creeper, Ernodea littoralis, is a prostate plant that can spread and root indefinitely. It is very hardy with drought and salt air and wind. It is adapted to very poor soil. Beach Creeper is a great plant to use for ground cover in mostly frost free locations in full sun to filtered sun. The leaves are narrow and glossy and are approximately 1 inch long. The plant produces a golden yellow fruit after the small white to light pink flowers that can be produced throughout the year. Birds are attracted to the fruit as a food source. There is a unique dark pink flowered form from the Florida Keys.
This is a great plant for landscape use, especially in coastal landscapes, and may need some occasional work to contain their spread.
