Product Details

Inkberry (Scaevola plumieri) is a beach dune plant highly adapted to the harsh dune environment of dry poor soil (sand), salt, and wind. Thick branches give this shrub a succulent appearance. It prefers full sun and dry, well-drained soils, and blooms year-round with white 'half' flowers. The branches are arcing trailing, forming open plants with big soft green leaves. White flowers that look like a half of a flower are borne in small clusters among the leaves, are followed by smooth, black fruit. This plant grows 3 to 4 feet and are an important part of the dune ecological system. Inkberry can be difficult to grow in typical landscape conditions but is great for coast landscapes and restorations. Inkberry can be maintained to create a screen or hedge, or be can be used as a foundation plant.
