Yellowtop, Flaveria linearis, is common to coastal habitats, pinelands and prairies in moist and sunny locations. They are adapted to inundation with brackish water and salt water. The have showy disk flowers primarily in summer and fall. The plant will grow up to 2 feet in height or more and spread to a mound several feet in width or more. Yellowtop is attractive to a diverse number of butterfly species and in the garden can be a great addition where the soil is moist and there is room for it's spread.
